So what are you doing here? We are mounting fish. This is a red-eared shell cracker. We're working on about 45 to 50 fish.
How hard is mounting fish, compared to other work you do? I don't know if you'd say it's very hard, but they definitely are not our favorite because they're smelly and messy. And they're hard on your hands, with the fins and the tiny bones, and they have to be painted, to add the color back in. It takes more time than a deer head, but for less money. But you've got to take the bad with the good. We do about 200 fish a year, and if we don't do someone's fish, we might not get his deer head.
What's your favorite animal to work on? Deer -it's my favorite animal to hunt, too. Actually, deer are most taxidermists' bread and butter. It's the No. 1 big game animal in North America.....Continue
