This book is very good.It has all the steps written and in clear pictures. It tells you how to mount birds, fish, how to mount whole bodys, rugs, big game heads and much more! It is not outdated. just go ahead and youse a manikin with legs instead of wires. I recommend this to ANY! one who wants to start taxidermy.
Outdated!

This could have well be a good book in its day, but its day is long since gone! The methods are almost all outdated.....reads more like a history book than a "how to do" book. If you feel you must have it, buy the cheapest used one that you can find.
This taught me how to stuff my dead pet squirrel Curly

by Bud Gott from New Castle, DE USA on 2005-01-12
For years I had three pet squirrels. I named them after the original Three Stooges - Moe, Larry, and Curly. Sadly, my squirrel Curly died. I consider this quite ironic since the real Curly was the first of the Three Stooges to die.
Anyways, I wanted to stuff Curly (my squirrel, not the Stooge) so I bought this here book. I stuffed (or taxidermied, if you prefer the technical term) him up real good.
It's great - Moe and Larry still get to play with Curly when they want to. It's fun for them, but sometimes they get a little confused when Curly doesn't play back. It's not that they're dumb - they're just squirrels. They have tiny little brains and don't understand things as good as we humans do.
Losing my squirrel Curly was very sad, but thanks to what I learned from this book, he's sort of still alive. Well, not really, but at least he sort of looks like he's still alive.
I know I'll use this fantastic book again when it comes time to stuff Moe and Larry (and my new squirrel Shemp.)
outdated

The book is very basic. It would be almost impossible to create a quality mount using this book. Also, the book was first published in 1967 and the methods are outdated. Today, almost all mounts are done using preformed polyurethane foam manikins.
alot of knowledge, step by step, easy to learn.
