The state government’s delay in recruiting taxidermists at different museums across Gujarat is posing a major threat to the precious specimens (stuffed trophies) displayed there. The proposal of recruiting full-time taxidermists is gathering dust as the government has been sitting over the issue for the last one and half years.
Of the total 14 museums in the state, most of them have the stuffed trophies. Some of them gifted the royal families and ornithologist Salim Ali. But its preservation and maintenance is at the mercy of only one person who is not even formally trained, sources said.
