Following graduation from the Church Academy in Reno at age 18, Wayne Comstock began his career as a taxidermist's apprentice with the company owned by Ron Nelson (now retired).
However, Comstock's interest in this work actually began when he was 12 years old, when he had an opportunity to observe someone mounting a pheasant, and later doing a similar task on his own.
Comstock's family, longtime Nevadans, always had been active in hunting, camping and fishing, so this involvement helped to capture his interest.
After the apprenticeship with Nelson, Comstock opened his own business, Nevada Taxidermist Services, in 1993 working out of his home studio, where he continues to serve a national clientele, who are sportsmen. His wife, Sabrina, works with him in the business, painting some of the scenery and some detail work on the mounted or pedestal specimens.
