Tanning animal pelts and hides, is something Cliffords Taxidermy has been doing for over a decade. We tan everything from whitetail deer hides down to rabbit hides. We do NOT tan any animal larger then a whitetail deer on site. We just don’t have the room and equipment to handle such jobs. Animals larger then a whitetail deer will be sent out to a tannery. Your hide should get to us a soon as possible after the kill, if you wish to have it tanned. Do not salt hides that have meat and fat on them. Leave the salting to Cliffords Taxidermy. You can freeze your hide or pelt in the event you cannot get to us within a timely manner. We do accept frozen animal hides.
Our on site tanning procedures are top notch and meet the industry standard. For large animals such as bear, elk, moose etc… These specimens are sent to highly qualified and trusted tannery establishment within the United States.
All canine specimens (fox coyote) require immediate attention and MUST be skinned out within 30 minutes of kill to prevent the hide from going rancid in the belly area. We will turn away all coyote and fox pelts that exhibit any signs of decay.
